European Marine Renewables - Wind, Wave & Tidal Stream (Map) 3rd ed. 2008

The Third edition of the European Marine Renewables Map - Wind Wave and Tidal Stream has been released. This map is published every two years and is published in association with the European Ocean Energy Association. It shows the current situation in Europe with respect to marine wind, wave and tidal stream projects. This full colour large scale may has symbols for wind wave and tidal stream projects and each are shown where they are located together with operator and generating capacity. Symbols in Grey indicate they are planned. The map also shows the various licenced areas, Offshore leases, approved areas for offshore wind exploration in Europe. These are colour coded by type. Also shown are the major research institutions involved in Ocean Energy. A chart is included on Ocean Energy Devices giving Name, Operator, Development Stage, Deployment plans, web and e-mail addresses for further contact. A further similar chart is included for offshore wind. In this case we have only included fully consented projects, Projects which are built or those under construction

John Coleman, Chief Executive of La Tene Maps speaking on the publication of this new map said " Over the last two years there has been at least a 200% increase in Marine Wave and Tidal Stream Projects. Whereas on the wind side there are not many new projects that were not on the map two years ago. For a wind symbol to go on this map the project has to get all its consents including cable consents. Otherwise it it is left on as an wind exploration project by showing the licenced area. This gives a much clearer picture about offshore wind projects" Mr Coleman went on to say that "This map is a must for anyone with an interest in the Offshore wind and Ocean Energy Projets. Europe is the leader in this area but we have noticed a growth in Ocean Energy Devices in Canada and Australia and as a result of this we are planning to produce a World Ocean Energy Projects map over the next 12 Months"

The European Marine Renewables- Wind Wave and Tidal Stream is mainly distributed free at the major European Ocean Energy and Offshore wind events in Europe. It can also be available from the website www.latene in digital or paper formats.
