Scotland - Small Scale Energy & Community Renewable Energy Schemes - 2nd Edition

La Tene Maps the Dublin based renewable energy map producer has announced the release of the the 2nd edition of the map "Scotland - Small Scale Energy and Community Renewable Energy Schemes". This map was originally published in 2005 and this new bigger map updates the situation since then. The map is published in association with Scottish Renewables, the representative body of the Renewables Industry in Scotland
The new map shows all renewable energy projects in Scotland below 1MW in size and thus compliments the existing - Scotland Energy Map. Areas covered include, Wind, Hydro, Biomass, Heat pumps (Ground, Air and water source), Solar, (Water, Space and Photovoltaic). Anaerobic Digestion, Landfill Gas, etc. Projects are shown together with operator and generating capacity. Projects which are built, under construction or those that are fully consented are shown on the map and are differentiated by dedicated symbol and colour.
First major distribution of the map was at the ALL ENERGY SHOW in Aberdeen, Scotland on 21-22nd May where every second delegate bag had the Scotland Small Scale Energy Map in it (The others had the Scotland Large Scale Energy Map). A further 500 copies were distributed from the La Tene Maps Stand. Further distribution of the map in 2008 will be done by Scottish Renewables at their Conferences/Seminars on Biomass, Bioenergy and Community Renewables.
La Tene Maps Chief Executive John Coleman speaking at the release of the map said "Over the past three years there has been a large growth in small scale energy projects in Scotland. We estimate that the number of projects has at least doubled and maybe trebled and this is not taking into account the 2000 or so domestic level schemes which we do not go into on this map".
