European Wind Farm Map

European Wind Farm Map.
La Tene Maps the Irish based thematic map producer is happy to announce the release and launch of the biggest map it has ever produced. The European Wind Farm map was produced in association with the European Wind Energy Association and was released at EWEA Brussels Conference on 31st March 2008. The map shows the state of wind farming in Europe. Each wind farm is shown together with name, generating capacity and owner operator. Generally speaking windfarms over 1MW are shown. The exceptions are Denmark and Germany where the limits are 5MW and 10MW respectively. This is because there is so much going on in those countries and so little space on the map. Wind farms under construction are also shown and are differentiated by colour as are the offshore farms.
Speaking at the release of the Map La Tene Maps Chief Executive John Coleman said " Im really happy to see this map out as it took much longer to produce than I had anticipated. However I am happy with the result for several reasons. Firstly, It is the largest map we have ever produced at 1 metre x 1.4 metres and secondly, as it is another first for the company. There is no other map out there with the same wealth of data as there is on this map. I would like to thank the European Wind Energy Association for the help and support in getting this map together, without them and those wind energy associations who supplied data for the map the end result would not be as good as it is. Hopefully we will produce this map on a yearly basis to reflect the growth in the industry and improve upon the current map"
The European Wind Farm Map is available free to members of European Wind Energy Associations via the Wind Energy Associations themselves from supplies of the map which are being distributed by the EWEA. Other interested people can purchase the map directly from the La Tene Maps website at a cost of €100. The map is also available in digital format as a pdf file or the map can be customised for individual company needs.
