Author: La Tene

Date: 09 Mar 2008

La Tene Maps have delivered the 3rdd edition of "Ireland - Fisheries Management" to Bord Iascaigh Mhara. This chart is designed to cover on one sheet in graphical format most of the important Technical Conservation Measures, Quotas and Closures for waters of the Irish 200nm fishing zone which change on an annual basis as a result of EU Regulations.

This chart was initially developed with National Development Programme assistance via the "Supporting Measures for Sea Fisheries Development Programme" as administered by BIM for 2006 and 2007. The 2008 edition is funded by Board Iascaigh Mhara. This chart is basically a chart of the Irish 200nm fisheries zone surrounded by smaller maps and diagrams to illustrate various restrictions, closures, recovery areas or other regulations including the Irish quota situation for 2008. The main map shows the Irish 200nm zone and surrounding waters including ICES Areas and Sub divisions. It also shows a catch reporting grid, major fishing ports, historical fishing rights in the UK 6-12 mile zone as well as the Biological Sensitive Area and the Shetland Box. Surrounding the main map are smaller maps on restrictions on fishing for Scallop, Crab, Norway Lobster and Mackerel/Herring. On the left hand side there are smaller maps on Cod, Hake, Haddock and Orange Roughy Boxes as well as maps covering Days at Sea Regulations, The NEAFC Commission, The Regional Advisory Councils and Fishing Effort Zones. The map also has a range of charts on Mesh Sizes, Catch Composition and Technical Conservation Measures.
