NewsBritish Bioenergy (Map) - Biomass, Biogas and BiofuelsAuthor: La TeneDate: 30 Sep 2006A new map on British Bioenergy has been produced and published by La Tene Maps in association with the London based Renewable Energy Association (REA). This is the first time that a map has been produced on this important new area in Renewable Energy. The British Bioenergy Map is packed with information The main map shows all the major Bioenergy projects. These are broken down into Power, Heat Only, CHP Plants, Biofuels or Solid Biomass. Power projects are subdivided into Dedicated Biomass, Co-firing, Anaerobic Digestion, Landfill gas, and Sewage Gas. CHP Plants are subdivided into Dedicated Biomass, Anaerobic Digestion, Energy from Waste (EfW) and Sewage Gas. Heat Only Projects are divided into Anaerobic Digestion and Energy from Waste. There are so many Heat Only Biomass projects that they are the subject of an inset map. Just under 400 of the biggest are listed. Also on the main map are Biofuels Producers. These are either Transport Biofeuls like Biodiesel, Bioethanol and Biogas or solid Biomass Fuels such as Wood Chip and Wood Pellet. A simple set of sympols combined with colour tells you exactlty what type of site is being dealt with. Normally the symbol is on the actual location and labelled with site, operator and capacity. From looking at the map you can see that there is a lot of Bioenergy activity going on in Britain. All this information is presented on a B1 sized sheet (1000 x 700mm) in full colour. All the county boundaries are shown against the colour background of the local electricity distribution company area. Insets are show for areas of intense activity . These include the Thames Estuary, and areas in the Midlands. The first edition of British Bioenergy - Biomass, Biogas and Biofeuls was distrubited free at the REA Bioenergy Conference in Weston-Super-Mare in September 2006. Printed copies are available free from the REA at 17 Waterloo Place London SW1Y 4AR, United Kingdom Tel:+44 20 77471830 or from La Tene Maps in Dublin, Ireland. Tel: +353 12847914.
